Prior to her current appointment as music marketing and publications manager at â¹û77¸£Àû, Suzanne Hassler served as the development liaison and communications director at the UT-Austin School of Music and editor-in-chief and coordinator of alumni relations and development for the University of Illinois School of Music at Urbana-Champaign. She received her B.F.A. degree from UIUC in Art+Design and master’s degree in Theatre History and Criticism, with an emphasis in opera, from UT-Austin, where she studied with the eminent historian Oscar G. Brockett. While undertaking graduate research at the American Repertory Theater at Harvard University, she concurrently completed a professional internship at A.R.T. in marketing and public relations.

Following graduate study, Suzanne served as producer and artistic director for The Horse I Ride Has Wings, an historical recording project featuring pianist David Garvey, longtime artistic partner to Leontyne Price. She has been recognized with an Outstanding Service Award by UT-Austin; named the National Critics Association’s Southwest Regional Winner; a City of Austin Cultural Contractor; first runner-up in the national finals of the theatre criticism competition at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival in Washington, D.C.; and a two-time recipient of Illinois Arts Council Grassroots Regrants. In 2010, she received an NEA Fellowship to participate in the national arts journalism program, which she completed at Columbia University in New York City under the artistic direction of cultural historian Joseph Horowitz.
